Emeryville was once an extensive Native American settlement on the mudflats next to the San Francisco Bay. Meat packing plants eventually moved in to process cattle from nearby ranches, bringing the first of many industries to the area. Today, Emeryville is the corporate headquarters for such well-known names as Pixar, Peet’s Tea and Coffee, Clif Bar, The Center for Investigative Reporting and Jamba Juice. The city also boasts the Bay Street shopping center complex that includes Ikea and a multiplex movie theater. The city also has its own Amtrak station, marina and shoreline park.

Emeryville is only 1.27 square miles and has a population of nearly 12,000, but offers many terrific amenities for such a small, urban city.
